Different view on Slumdog

Finally Slumdog Millionaire won 8 oscars with A. R. Rahman getting 2 and Pookutty 1.
Slumdog Millionaire is the showcasing of poverty in India by a British director (though the richest man in his country is an Indian). How true are the facts depicted in the movie can be a debatable issue.
But in my personal opinion the song which got oscars "Jai Ho", if we compare it with other Rahman's songs is not that good. So if such a song can win oscar it clearly shows that Indian artistst have a talent much more than that. The only thing to be celebrated about oscar win is the global recognition for Indian artists.

just like film fair awards oscar is the award of their country which has a world acclaim due to our fascination for everything foreign. In their system there are entries for international film i.e. made by producers of other countries where the films are judged amongst so many countries and competition is tough. Since this film was made by their producer it had lesser competition since it was entered not as an international film entry.. If the same film would have been produced by Indian producer or for that matter by any producer other than oscar country. I am sure it would not have been so successful in oscar. As regards to the showing poverty of our country, many films are made on this subject like Awara, salam bombay etc.which we did not comment since it had not international value as slumdog having won oscar.
